Our walking tour of Split’s Marjan hill is a great way to experience the best of nature in combination with local history and culture. All this in a peaceful and serene surrounding without the hustle and bustle of the city centre. There are plenty of similar historic towns from the Roman times, yet only Split has such a perfect natural oasis just a few steps from the old town. Our walk will leisurely take you along the ancient neighbourhood Varoš, through the forest and on gravel paths, during which we will take several breaks to reflect on local history, culture and Split’s well-known lifestyle! As we make our way up the hill, we will enjoy majestic views of the Marjan peninsula and the surrounding sea, as well as Diocletian’s Palace. The bell tower of St. Domnius that rises above ancient rooftops and the mountains and hills in the distance are a perfect image to be captured on camera. In addition to the beauties of nature that we will see, you will have the chance to pass by the old Jewish cemetery and the Church of St. Nicholas, one of the several churches on Marjan hill. This walking tour is approximately 7 km long and an excellent way to get to know the history of Split in a different and more active way!
